STATEMENT

I have always painted about affairs of people’s mind. Our society is a reflection of human desires. It’s deeply planted in my mind.
Since  I had endeavored haw can to visualize  the human’s thought in the condition of  life  then I had tried to plant  a mirror as the heart into my art works.
Therefore, I explored  and investigated in many methods and experimental ways. I finally found the kaleidoscope  that element of structure that is composed of 3 mirrors which made the endless reflecting like our consciousness.
In Buddhist theory, a  mirror is a metaphor of our mind where there is no place, no time and is absolutely empty. Images are according to what there is in front of the mirror. In this world, everything happens as a reflection of our reaction to each other.    I set up the triangle mirrors in  middle of  my artworks as symbol of every  mind.  Sometimes it’s installed as  huge tent structure on the floor.  They reflect the one image ,but it makes an endless distorted echo of images by the mirror’s interaction. .Recently, I set up the mirror vertically in my meditative silent landscape .    Its intention is to be united with the one between our mind and  nature in on landscape.  Also I use the natural wood-grain panel as canvas for the wave of water,  fresh air and ever-changing cloud as a universal aura.(energy )
I would like to quote from the review by art critic Donald Kuspit : “Wheiza kim’s works symbolize her aspiration—her quest for spiritual enlightenment. They symbolize  the process of achieving  it and the change in perception and consciousness it bring with it…………………………………………………………………………………in other words, the nature in kim’s pictures is symbolic of kim’s nature and the transformation of nature she depicts symbolizes her self-transformation. The triangle represents the “harmony and perfection” she would like to achieve,………………………………………..,, “In sum, Kim has used her Buddhist heritage ,and knowledge of the oriental   landscape tradition, to make meditative works that convincingly suggest the difficult  spiritual passage from darkness to light, from ignorance to tranquil higher  consciousness , from mundane existence to transcendental experience.”
